Hi everyone, just a quick note to say there is no oral language (sharing) this week. As the year 2’s and 3’s don’t go swimming at the same time we have very little time in the class all together. The library is also closed this week so we will not be able to borrow, but students can still return library books to our box in the classroom.

Hi everyone, here it is almost week 6 and how time flies. Next week is swimming week and this is a reminder to remember bathers, towels, clothes to put on at the pool to come back to school, underwear and thongs. It looks like it is going to be a warm week. If you are going to come and visit (and you are certainly welcome) and take photographs, please remember to only take photos of your child and not of other students, and that includes the swimming instructors.

Students have written in their diary asking for a photocopy of a picture of when they were born and one when they started school (or about 5 years old). I would like a small photocopy as we intend to do some work with them and then put it into our Integrated Studies book.

Thanking you

Gizella

Term 1 week 2 2016

Welcome to a new year. It has been lovely to meet new parents and catch up with parents who now have younger sibling, or have had me as a class teacher before.  The students have settled into the class routine very well. We have been getting to know each other as well as construct some class rules together. We started spelling last week as well as homework. It is fabulous that they are so enthused about homework.

I aim to regularly update the blog with information that is happening within the classroom and I will also place the weekly spelling list in Spelling page. You are able to leave me a comment , but please remember to follow the blogging guidelines as I do show the blog to the students.  You can find the blogging guidelines on the page called “Blog Guidelines” located at the top of this page.

Term 4 week 2

Hi everyone, welcome back to Term 4. Our class (along with our buddies) are presenting assembly on Friday week 3 and I am sure the students would love you to attend if you are able. At this stage I can’t give an exact time, but it will be somewhere around  2.15pm. As we get closer and work out an exact time, I will get the students to let you know. Term 4 is usually a very busy term, but also a fun term as we get to start doing some ‘Xmas stuff’ later in the term and then of course there is the school concert (not sure what date this is yet) which involves lots of practice. After our assembly I plan having oral language (sharing) for a couple of weeks and I will also let the students know about as it gets closer.

Regards Gizella.

Term 3 week.

Hi everyone,

This week there will be no spelling lists as we are focusing on the Oxford words (words that students need to be able to read and write). This is because it is a short week with the closure day on Friday and the Fun Run/Open Day on Thursday. I hope to see some of you visiting on Thursday. Just to let you know the students are at Japanese straight after lunch on Thursday and then they come back to class for the last lesson.     Regards Gizella.

Week 6 Book Week.

Hi everyone.

This week is Book week and this years theme is ‘Books light up the world’. We will be reading some of the books that were shortlisted and doing some activities around the stories. On Friday there will be an assembly at 9am. and students are being encouraged to dress up as their favourite character from a book. During the assembly there will be a parade of all classes. If your child doesn’t want to get dressed up they can carry a favourite book. I would like students who are dressing up to also bring their book in so that we can read some of them (as long as they are not too long). It should be great fun.

Hi everyone,

I”M BACK. The weary traveller returns. I (and my husband) have had an amazing time in Europe visiting so many countries, famous landmarks, museums, art galleries and sight seeing. Australia is such a young country and in Europe you are walking in history, you very much have the sense that you are walking in the footsteps of someone hundreds or even thousands of years ago. If someone asks me what my favourite place was, I would have to say France, but there were favourite places in every country. In England it was walking among the tombs of the great kings and queens in Westminster Abbey (Mary Queen of Scots, Elizabeth 1, Henry) although my husband would probably say visiting Wembley Stadium and walking through the tunnel and getting to put our hands on a replica FA Cup was. In the Netherlands it was visiting a diamond factory, we (girls) got to try on heaps of diamond jewellery. In Germany it was all of the old castles along the Rhine River.  In Switzerland it was ‘going up’ Mt Titlis, 3000 feet in 2 different gondolas, the last one rotated 360 degrees. I have never been so scared in all my life as it was almost a vertical ascent. At the top there was snow and then a chair lift across a glacier.  In Italy it was the Vatican and Venice. In Monaco we visited the casino. In Spain we went to the Prado Museum in Madrid where there were so many famous paintings like 10 Picasso’s, Rembrandt’s, Van Gogh, Ruben to name a few. Paris was such fun going to the Eiffel Tower, Arc De Triomphe, Napoleon’s tomb and the Louvre. We have lots of great memories and photos (that will probably take months to sort).

See you all soon

Regards Gizella

Dear Parents / Caregivers,                                                           15th June 2015.

I would like to let you know that my replacement for weeks 9 and 10, and weeks 1, 2 and 3 next term is Ms. Belinda Cubitt. Belinda is already familiar with the class and the students all know her. We have already talked about class structure and daily routines.  I hope that you will make her welcome and I will see you when I get back. I hope that you and your family have a great holiday.

Gizella
