Literacy

Silent Reading – Each day the students start the day with silent reading, and this gives me the opportunity to listen to a number of students read aloud to me. This is an important aspect of reading as it allows me to monitor their fluency, how they are working out unknown words and making sure they comprehend what they are reading.
Guided Reading – Students work in small groups reading a text and follow this with an activity.
Writing – This term we will be focusing on Exposition and Narrative.
Editing Work – I will be focusing on students editing their work for punctuation, spelling errors and to make sure that it makes sense to the reader.
