Hi everyone,
I”M BACK. The weary traveller returns. I (and my husband) have had an amazing time in Europe visiting so many countries, famous landmarks, museums, art galleries and sight seeing. Australia is such a young country and in Europe you are walking in history, you very much have the sense that you are walking in the footsteps of someone hundreds or even thousands of years ago. If someone asks me what my favourite place was, I would have to say France, but there were favourite places in every country. In England it was walking among the tombs of the great kings and queens in Westminster Abbey (Mary Queen of Scots, Elizabeth 1, Henry) although my husband would probably say visiting Wembley Stadium and walking through the tunnel and getting to put our hands on a replica FA Cup was. In the Netherlands it was visiting a diamond factory, we (girls) got to try on heaps of diamond jewellery. In Germany it was all of the old castles along the Rhine River. In Switzerland it was ‘going up’ Mt Titlis, 3000 feet in 2 different gondolas, the last one rotated 360 degrees. I have never been so scared in all my life as it was almost a vertical ascent. At the top there was snow and then a chair lift across a glacier. In Italy it was the Vatican and Venice. In Monaco we visited the casino. In Spain we went to the Prado Museum in Madrid where there were so many famous paintings like 10 Picasso’s, Rembrandt’s, Van Gogh, Ruben to name a few. Paris was such fun going to the Eiffel Tower, Arc De Triomphe, Napoleon’s tomb and the Louvre. We have lots of great memories and photos (that will probably take months to sort).
See you all soon
Regards Gizella
